We are Dogwater Studios and CherryBear Records. My number is 775-412-TITS, and I am acting as the Band Liaison for this entire project (I'm Jess). The Sound Engineer's name is Rick, and he'll be available for technical questions if you've got 'em. I know that sounds like he's a hardass, but I swear, it's just me defending his busy recording/work schedule by deflecting all the scheduling etc. questions I can answer first. :)
The process, as I understand it (we've briefly discussed pretty much just following last year's plan), will be:
PRELIM: write me and let me know how many band members/instruments you have, and what they are, as well as how many of you sing; what time you're all available to play (give me as broad a window as possible to fit in with everyone else, if you would please)
SHOW: we'll be recording the entire show, as well as running live sound. Rick and Mike will be our sound guys, and we may or may not have volunteer stage hands to assist with the setup and tear down. I think we'll also be webcasting and recording video for the entire day, but we're firming that up.
1st Round Post Show Processing: every band will receive a ROUGH mix of their entire live set, in order to eliminate the one or two songs that absolutely cannot be included on the comp (sour notes, lost tempo, etc)...we ask that you leave us as many choices as you possibly can, remembering that a real round of mixing and mastering can work wonders. :) We offer a discounted rate if you'd like your entire live set mixed and mastered as an ep in its own right, as well as duplication discounts for these projects.
2nd Round Post Show Processing: the Dogwater Team will pick and choose the best of the best of each band's set, concoct a song order, and the music will all go through a thorough mixing and mastering, listening round, and final cleanup.
After this is complete, we'll be producing a compilation cd package. Each person who plays the show will receive a copy of the package. Additional copies will be available at a discount to the bands who participated.
Then, the final product will be available to the general public. We'll probably throw a big party to celebrate the release. :)
Cheers,
jess
